BarFly's Review of Yen Ha
One of Portland's oldest Vietnamese restaurants, Yen Ha balances veg-friendly dishes with, um, more traditional fare - Intestines Porridge? - and their lounge maintains a nightlife similarly diverse.
Genial old men, a fun young crowd and a pleasantly deranged niche of regulars thrive midst close confines and, should the karaoke (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays) jockeys strike an appropriate mix, sometimes even dance.
Pool x1, Mega x2, Ms PacMan, TV x3, jukebox
Tuesdays: SIN (details, TBA).
Sunday and Monday: Geeks Who Drink Trivia, (7pm).
Thursday, Friday, Saturday: Karaoke, (9pm).
Smoking patio (no drinks!).

I love the fried rice here. This place is very good. I love the fried squid and the cherry soda. Very good haha.
MAN this place kicks some serious tail! Went in on a night that must have been significant because when the ugly lights came up the crowd was cheering for the KJ (a RIDICULOUSLY energetic dude named Matt) to sing one more song. Talk about a man who can work a crowd?!?
The food I grabbed was out of the ordinary for typical pub-grub which was exactly what I was hoping for.
Seriously, if you're on the east side on a thursday night then Yen Ha is the place you need to be.
Food is good...friends are better...drinks are knock you on your ass strong. Check out my pa MC Matt D on Thursdays!
My fav place in P-Town to get a STIFF drink and good food. It's sad that Mikey Sha Sha left, but still a great place.
Now that MC Matt d And Warren are back in the house as Karaoke Dj's and they EXPANDED the bar out towards restaurant, its actually a cool dive to be in... Traci Fair from Hi-5 entertainment been busting this karaoke joint FAITHFULLY through good and bad for over 8 years.. place used to be a dive but growing., make a stop drinks are STRONG , and service is good for such a small po-dunk establishment, if your a karaoke fan dont miss out!!!
Word to your mother... I'm too much of a puss to sing karaoke, but man this place is tempting. I get the best drinks, and the crowd ROCKS! Maybe someday...
I like the Ha. What's not to love? There's dirty old men and trace amounts of meth on the toilet in the women's bathroom! Score!!
We made it out the weekend before Halloween and had a fantastic time. Great food, extensive song selection, super friendly staff and cliental. Bartenders Jay & Saul took expert care of us. KJ Brian was friendly, courteous and accomadating... NOT a mic hog with ego-supreme like some KJ's. Looking for a new place to sing? This is the place! What more can you ask for then a regular dressed as Elvis singing "Work It" by Missy Elliot? Thank you everyone at Yen Ha. You ROCK! :)
shanrock i just realized that that's where i know warren from. funny. haha. i'm so smart.
anyway, i'm a HUGE fan of yen-ha. seriously, this place is amazing. one of the best karaoke spots in p-town. they have songs that no other place can compare with (although, i always do the same and i really need to up the anty...) and the service is incredible. people rock, drinks rock and you can rock at the yen ha. i love every minute i'm there. To be honest, it's kind hard to leave.
Yen Ha rocks. The karaoke is fun, there are no huge crowds of assholes, the regulars range from laid back to very weird, and the bartenders are simply awesome.
. . . by rad bartenders! There's the delightful Allison, who resembles the truly lovely young Liz Taylor, or the dashing Jay who can cash in your lottery ticket and serve up a highball while in the MIDST of performing a butt-rock ballad on the cordless mike! Also, Warren the K.J. will be happy to vocally perform the "doo-doo-doo-dooooo - doo-doo-doo-doo-doo" keyboard riff if you sing "The Final Countdown." And if you're real lucky, the unofficial Yen-ha backup dancer will be there, ready to share her Carolina visor cap, as well as a view of her healthy midriff.
Yen Ha gets me in big trouble, but in a really good way. The karaoke selection is really good and you actually get to sing in a reasonable amount of time, unlike other pleaces. Culturally diverse crowd, too. What's not to love?
i have not bin here in a long time it seem''s but when i did go it was bad ass to say the lest . I am gathering friend's to go and will fuckin be back soon
