I was 86 after stepping out to have a cig, I ordered a iced tea and my friend had a water, we then ordered two lunches, proceeded to step out for a cig, when we came back our table was cleared and our stuff gone.. When we walked in they said sorry I had someone helping me and she thought you left, well that would have been fine, but then we said where are the cigs, and the drinks they replaced the tea and water and dug through the garbage found our cigs, and wiped them off and placed them on the table.. Never once did the waitress wash her hands but I believe that is a food handlers violation.. Then we get our food and the person that cleared our table the supposed manager, sat there talking to the bartender about us clear as day and we felt uncomfortable.. this is not the way a manager should have handled this instead of talking about us she should have apologized, I was not looking for a free meal.. I felt uncomfortable and said we were going to leave and the waitress said fine your 86d for life.. Now I have been coming here for 25 years once a week and was shocked at her response and never once did the manager come over and say she was sorry.. My God what is the world coming to when you can go have a decent meal in three minutes they had given our table to someone else threw away our drinks and cigs and never mind we had a order in.. I am really with out words, this waitress should be fired and so should this manager and I am reporting them to the food handlers association as we speak.. I have never been treated so poorly in my whole life and I am 49 God bless
I love their food; especially "Brian's Nasty". The service has been awesome every time we've gone, usually early evening, about happy hour time. The happy hour menu is awesome; we like this place a lot.
There chicken fried steak is to die for!!!! Im a huge chicken friend steak kinda girl and have had it many different places but Wichita's is by far...hands down the BEST chicken fried steak I have ever had!
I have read some of these other reviews and think that the ones who complain about service should stop whining. I have seen this place so busy that the wait staff are running their asses off and I have see people walk in expecting that they will get right to you. If you want instant service go to McDonalds or else wait your turn. I go the the Clackamas Wichita and have for years. The food is always great (as far as pub food goes) especially the Burgers. Try the Southwest Burger and if you like Ruebuen's the Wichita in Clackamas has the best one. NEXT TIME YOU WHINERS GO INTO THE WICHITA LOOK AROUND YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES THERE THEY WILL GET TO YOU. Stop being such a bunch of snivily bitches. Its a freakin Pub and you are eating out of a basket for F#%*s sake.
This review actually refers to the Clackamas establishment, but I've been to both many times, and the same thing applies. I'd have to say, though, the Oregon City one is the better of the two. Here goes; Although the food was fine if ordinary, and the service a little on the slow side and not enthusiastic, the place is ok for a quick and casual lunch or dinner, along with some drinks. However, watch for billing problems. On this one occassion, the waitress charged us twice for our lunch, causing my already skinny bank account to go overdraft. Despite my repeated requests to management to rectify the situation, Wichita only pointed their fingers at the bank, and refused to take responsibility for their own errror. I ended up on the short end of the stick, paying $125.00 for a $20.00 lunch. That is NOT a good deal. I would advise paying cash and hold on to your credit card.
If you're fresh from a 2-day fasting period centered around your religious beliefs then the food at Wichita will make you ill. Granted, it might taste okay due to your lack of previous food but be there no mistake, you're in for a rough ride.
I would call this place a 'greasy spoon' but that might discredit and cast a bad light on greasy-spoon bar-and-grills everywhere.
Ready to pay 'downtown Portland' prices for drinks? Then hop aboard the $15/shot tequila express.
This place sucks on so many levels that I could write witty insults for the next week and still have more material.
Run, don't walk, away from the Wichita. The owner 'PJ' or something like that is an ID-nazi, rude to most everyone, and treats his establishment like he's running a prison-kitchen. This is on top of the fact that he charged us $45 for 3 tequila shots saying, and I friggen quote, "That's what they charge in downtown Portland."
Quick fact: Wichita Oregon City DOES NOT EQUAL downtown Portland.
I was here reading some past reviews on service. I just wanted to update y'all. We have been there numerous times with the fam(for dinner). We have never had a problem with bad/slow service. Maybe the reviews were read & attended to? Not sure but great food & great service are available now. :)
He looks just like Ben Affleck!!!!!!!!! Well maybe like Ben Affleck if he were an ex-alcoholic bartender who chases after two or three really skanky, nasty chicks for every one good-looking one he manages to interest. Witty repartee! Well that's redundant, and he's smart enough to know that, and a smartass enough to point it out to you!! Haha J/K. Luv ya Wichita ;-p
We like this place. Good service in the non-smoking area. The waitress is always prompt and friendly. Tonight was hard. The waitress was good as usual, but she was the only one in the ENTIRE place. She hauled ass, but it was a longer than usual wait. Oh and BTW - the gal who was in with your two kids and mom - you REALLY need to have a volume control button and your daughter needs to learn seats are for SITTING not bouncing and yelling. If I had not been with my husband and son, you would have never shown your face again.
I have a friend that lives close to the Milwaukie Wichita and the service your lucky to be served a drink in 30minutes if you want food planning on waiting not only to order but to get it and get it done the way you asked when you ordered it. The cocktail waitresses always treat you as though they are doing you a favor to serve you and truely it is sad if there was just an upscale on the attitude of this place it would be a really fun place to go into and get to visit with your friends.
Well I am real sorry for anyone who has had a bad trip to the Orego City Wichita!!! I go there all the time and have rarly ever had to wait! Maybe if they are busy but the wait staff asures me my food will be ready soon and that is good for me!! If they are busy that tells me they must be pretty good!!! The place is always clean, exspecialy when the one waitress is there that cleans and stokes consintaly, they are all very kind and the food is always good, fresh and hot!!!! Great Restaurant!!
Hey guys and gals, I stopped in at the Wichita Pub tonight for a quick drink, bad mistake. I walked in, stepped up to the bar and waited....and waited....and waited...and waited....and waited....then I waited some more. Patron after patron, clearly arriving after me, got served before me. I felt like I had some hideous, disfiguring disease. I hadn't been drinking, yet, just wanted a drink before going home. I was finally graced with the presence of the bartender, who took my card, my order, then returned my card because I complained to a fellow patron about the horrible service. She refused to serve me because...ummmmmm.... I spoke the truth, I guess. Never go there. Never ever EVER darken their door. Don't patronize ANY of the 3 (?) Wichita establishments. Poor customer service should be rewarded with an unemployment check.
I have been to the OC Wichita and wasn't impressed. Clackamas was even worse. Sorry but Im not sure if I wouldn't rather just go to Oles just down the street but it's a dive too. I'm from Mayberry so I go to this one once in a while, foods great but I usually go to the bar to order unless I sit in a booth. Milwaukie one is remodeled so it's much larger with more pool tables. Other than that not much entertainment (used to have low budget karaoke) other than seeing people from around town, or I knew in high school. Lot's of regulars here. If they get to know you they will welcome you warmly.
I went for Cripple XXX comedy show and had a ball. I got there a bit late (poor navigation) so I had to sit at one of two long, elevated tables but I really enjoyed the comedy show-only $3. The food was fine. A tip I'd pass on from watching savvy guests: when people arrived and sat down, one of them went to the bar and got a round of drinks, so their wait wouldn't be long since there were few servers for the large crowd. Probably a good strategy for anywhere that you're not noticed quickly.
Certainly the service could not get worse. The food depending on what you order may be ok, however, I have had considerably better. For example I recently order some onion rings. The oil was so bad your cars engine would have rejected it.
Overall this pub is great on the food and beverage end of things. Just a note on their wait staff...When you sit down at a table and wait, then a couple other people sit down at the same table (one of their long bar tables) we were on one end and they were on the other...keeping in mind we were their a good 10 mins before the other group of people... and the server walked right by us and took their order and walked away... it took another 5 mins just to get her attention. When this happens it makes you wonder where they were trained and by whom. If you are looking for good service this pub may not be the best. If you are looking for good bar food this pub is great! Just be prepared to wait for it.
If you get the right cook, the food is good. It seems that the owner Randy Kleinsmith doesn't care at all about their reputation for bad service. The only one that has decent service is Gators, and he has a different co-owner there. The rest are bad. You can bet that on average you will be ignored by the server. It has been that way for years, Clackamas and Oregon City location the worst.
The service sucks every single time in Oregon City. We make it a point of not going to the Wichita because we can't stand being ignored all evening by the waitress.
Why can't the Wichita train their waitresses. Until they do, the Wichita will always be the same. Never anything.
I really like this place overall, a little pricy on the drinks, food is good value, service actually really SUCKS...everytime! If they could improve that it would be stellar.
I use to go this place every Thursday (ladies night) and Saturday night about 5 years ago. My little group of hot chicks were the life the party! You could barely get in the door, unless you knew someone (Tualatin Bar). Nowadays, the atmosphere is full of White T and the bouncers think they are LA bodyguards. On the upper side, their food and drinks aren't to shabby.
Friendly service here, but they are a little bit anal about the whole 'ID' thing. They carded everyone upon entering and again each time they bought a drink. The DJ was depressed. No one was dancing, and it was cold. Service and food were pretty good though. I especially liked how attentive the waitress was.
