BarFly's Review of Suki's
Combining the once-grand ambitions of a hotel bar with the rather seedier elements common to motel lounges, Suki's is no longer a steakhouse, and the swing orchestra's long since packed their bags, but a touch of faded glamour still clings to the peeling red-flecked walls, and sheer expanse, of what's become a popular dive karaoke parlor.
Beyond the karaoke, there's free pool, WiFi, hearty breakfast (served late), and cheap drinks (served early!). Find yourself wandering this neck of the PSU/Orange line woods some morning, you'll likely be wanting one, and even more likely than that, so glad that you did.
Daily lunch specials. Bottomless mimosas ($10!) make for a well-lubricated brunch served 9am-2am, Saturday and Sunday. Hot tip: $5 breakfast specials before noon.
Regular prices start at $4 for well and pints.
Look for specials during the sports games (carries all NFL, MBL, etc., packages, Timbers games, et al). Officially, unofficially, a '49ers bar!
UFC PPV Fights are big here - no cover, but there's a $15 minimum/person food/beverage spend.
Monday: Last Call Trivia, 8pm.
Wednesday-Saturday: Karaoke @ 9pm with KJ Lina.
Saturday and Sunday: Brunch (9am-2pm) with $7 Bloodies, $5 breakfast special before noon.

Add your own review or commentSuki's happens to be just down the street from my office, so has been a common hangout for after work gatherings. The food is fair, the drinks are not watered down, but the service often leaves something to be desired. For the last month, I have come here at least once a week after work, during happy hour. I've ordered the same drink everytime (a kamikaze), and everytime, I was charged happy hour price for each and every single one of those drinks. Then today, a very rude waitress tells me that the kamikaze I ordered wasn't part of happy hour. I explained my preceding 3-4 weeks experiences, with multiple bartenders and multiple waitresses. Again, in a not so polite manner I'm told that the Cosmo is not part of happy hour, at which point I said I had asked for a kamikaze, which I'm then told is the same thing.
I may continue to come here for work functions if my co-workers insist, but I will no longer be coming here of my own accord.
The staff has been so incredibly nice and very conscientious. The bul go gi tacos are to die for. I've never been bothered by any patrons. I just go for lunch and after work and I would highly recommend it to others. I know nothing about the Karaoke or the KJ. The drinks are reasonably priced and reasonably made but I go for the tacos!
I was a regular for a couple of years, but I rarely stop by now. If you show up after 9:00 on a weekend, it takes at least two hours to sing, and the plethora of birthdays (and the elaborate, time-consuming spankings) don't help. I still love the place (and Dick!) but it's just too popular now!
It's a wonderful place to get a drink and people watch, if you're not a karaoke freak like me. :) Lots of freaks and geeks.
This bar is a fabulous good time! Of course, those of us who have been regulars for years would LOVE to see the weekend crowds thin down some (read: A LOT), for the most part, we still have a ball at the old dump!
The KJ is fantastic, he can not be bribed, and it does not matter how good of friends you are with him, there is NO favoritism.
The bartenders are great, and will take good care of you. Personally, I have given up getting to know the new ones, as I think we have gone through three in the past 6 months. But the regular ones are still around, and are still amazing!
Comedy night is fun, with a TON of comics dropping by to try out their new material. Sometimes comics actually outnumber the crowd, so come check it out!!
Oh, and the D&D night? Long gone...someone managed to unleash his vorpal sword in inappropriate ways, causing the kingdom to collapse. So no more dice rolling in the dining room...
You know how sometimes you'll strike up a conversation with someone new, and five minutes into it you can tell that they were homeschooled? That's what this bar is like.
Staff are great, check. The place has that once-was-a-great-charming-hotel-bar-jazz-joint-but-now-it’s-a-fuckin’-dive feel, check. Patrons get stupid drunk there, check. I’ve gotten stupid drunk there, check. These are all good signs. Better sign- I have a friend who could drink a wagon full of rhino’s under a table. He is a dive bar aficionado. This is his favorite place to hang. Sure, it might be because it’s close to home and the barkeeps don’t give him any guff. But, and this is interesting because he loathes karaoke- But he always seems to be there or wants to go there. So what do I think of it? I’ll get on my knees in my three-piece suit and sing the shit out of “Sister Christian,” and that’s what I think of it. Oh, and if you were there in December and ran off with a gray, felt Borcalino fedora- I want my hat back
The place is decent on a non karaoke night. and as long as its not a scorcher outside its reasonable to be in. The KJ has to be the worst in town and the talent follows. All in all the only reason i continue to go is the food is good they have free pool and its close.. other than that i wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
Went again to celebrate my divorce and liberation, and they wer a doll! It's one thing to be nice to new customers, but when you keep that attitude when I come back, I totally love you!!! People! If you want karaoke, keep coming back to this place!!!! They're the man!!!!!!!!!
I went here last Friday with a group, and was impressed. The seating was good (you could choose to sit right by the stage, or back alittle ways away from the music.) Drinks were nice and strong, and from what I heard, cheap in comparison to other places. And the food was great. I had their BLT, some of their veggie platter, and some nachos. Oh yeah, and the service was nice, too. I will be going back there.
I went for open mic comedy nite last tuesday and heard everyone from pros to a first-timer. What a deal for FREE! I had a ball and will return this tuesday.
Can't believe that some a-hole not only gave a bad review but went so far as to bring 'tits' into the review! I've always found the staff to be seriously kind and accommodating...maybe this guy was a tit staring asshole thus the 'bad' service! Anyhow...still a great place to karaoke..still reasonable prices, free parking/pool table...maybe 'Soggy Biscuits' should hang out at a bar that accommodates what Suki's seems to repel...jerks!
You'll love this place if you are a real human being that enjoys getting drunk on ridiculously strong drinks, eating decent greasy bar food and singing karaoke with wild abandon. Not for the faint of heart. Pretentious Portlanders need not apply. Really, if you want that just go to Chopsticks. We'll all be happier. (=
Irredeemable shithole. Bad, overpriced drinks (epsecally during karaoke, where the horrible and annoying KJ adds an extra charge to each drink!), and lousy food too. Clientele looks like they bussed it in from Troutdale and Hillsboro. Did I mention the KJ, one of the most fucking annoying people on the planet? Did you know that he sings "It's Raining Men" every night at 10:00? That is how bad this place is. Only good point about this place is the service, which is quite concientious.
horrible service, shit drinkes and bartenders hired for thier tits as opposed to their skill. And not particularly great tits at that. Slow tedious and karaoke monopolized by frat boy joeys for two hours on a thursday night with only 12 fucking people in the bar. Unlikely to go back,.. very likely to chargeback.

I'll be interested to find out how good the food, Karaoke, the victuals, the clientel, & atmosphere is like here. I'll be arriving in Portland on a Saturday in July. From other reviews I read about the Karaoke venues in Portland, perhaps it seems that Portland is a drinking town with a Karaoke problem. Looking forward to seeing this place since I was last ther in '03 & '88.
A great place to hide out. Karaoke on Friday's, decent bar food...a serviceable dive.
