BarFly's Review of Renner's
With some sixty-odd years under its belt, Renner's vintage charms beckon a surprisingly diverse array of regulars. It's a shining example of the endangered neighborhood bar.
Photos throughout the bar depict it, and the area, over the decades.

We only go sundays for breakfast the staff is always great food is to die for lol i like it when they are slow just means i get another mary keep up the good work scott
Was there the other day and friendly staff, didn't have the food but the drinks were good..=)
Just went there for the first time today, good/strong drinks, but the bar food was terrible. We ordered some wings, and they were bloody and cold in the middle. All in all, if you are looking for a place to have a few, this is a great bar for it, just avoid the bar food....
I am David and I do agree with "definitely not Brian". I really do not know why I got fired however, in some ways it was a great thing. Renner's rocks! Put aside the owner, the sometimes rude service, the place just fucking rocks! If you do not know I am now bartending/serving at Starky's in SE. I still go into Renner's on occasion. If you like me, come see me at my new place, if you hate me, Fuck you! All of us in the service industry know that we have our lovers and haters, we all have good and bad days. Hopefully I give out more good days and have more lovers. Anyways, Renner's is a cool dive bar and hopefully it will be around for another 70 years!
I have been to Renners at least 10 times in the last 6 months and service has always been mildly cold until a Wednesday night low. Working in food service, I understand the "high volume : low labor" formula but one bartender is pretty rediculous even in that tight of a space. As nice and welcoming as the girls there have been to these other posters, the bartender last bingo night was inattentive and rude to the same degree. After being ignored repeatedly for spans of half-hours, all of my boyfriend's orders were ignored or forgotten. Then in a final affront, she counted out and scoffed at her deservedly low (12%) tip. I may not be a regular or a big spender, or even as enthusiastic about bingo and jello shots as other customers, but my order should be just as important. Or maybe I just wasn't drunk enough to truly enjoy it.
I moved to Mexico 2 months ago and Renners has been absolutely irreplacable. I used to work at The Ship and it was my favorite place to go for my wind-down cocktail(s). I miss the hell out of Kris, Bethany, David, Kat, and yeah, even Marshall sometimes. You can go there to chill, be an idiot, go on a date, or swoop up some ditz who just turned 21 that doesn't even live in the Village. Hooray, no callbacks! Be warned: there is a reason the locals call the Suburban Room the "Subhuman Room"...great drinks, great food, lovely staff, fun for all! I give it two nipples poked out! Miss it aaaalll the time! Note: don't get between the staff/locals and the Megatouch game...
Well besides the hours are way wrong on the the above description, I happen to think that Renners it the perfect place to pick up on hot chicks with poor judgment.. And Wendsdays night cook is freaking hot!! Katheleen is one of the best bartenders in town.. oh yeah and so is Kris and Bethany.
Good place to go if you are into day drinking (which I happen to be) and Marshall hooked me and my buddy up with free t-shirts. Suburban room 4 life!
Renner's kicks ass! It's not quite straight, not a gay bar, just a dark dive that's hard not to love. Multnomah village benefits from it's ambiguity...I've enjoyed it's long history of providing the perfect meeting place for old friends. I love the joint.
The place was recently updated with memorabilia on the walls. As to the sewer smell it has been gone ever since Marshall took over the place many years ago (why would a dude who has not been to the bar in ages post the above comment). By the way Marshall is the 2005 Multnomah Village BBQ Rib Throwdown champion. The booths are comfortable and the drinks are real strength. The locals know each other but welcome anyone there to relax. I have seen some interesting partying and some fun times at Renner's. David, Kathleen & Kris have been around a while as bartenders and compliment the crowd nicely. One word of advice don't ask how to get your picture on the wall.
I love Renner's great dive bar. Marshall and all the Bartenders are great. The happy hour starts at noon and cocktails are made well (strong).
THe Bingo gets to be too much for me with the crowd, but when I'm in the mood it's a lot of fun!
Renners and the Sub-human room are the shit... amazing bartenders, cool chill atmosphere, not bad food (just sometimes a little attitude about making it when they're really busy and understaffed)... COME EARLY for bingo... it gets full FAST! Very chill, lowkey place good to meet up with friends and chat. I like to start the night there and then head over to the Hi-Hat
This is the greatest bar in all of Southwest Portland!! Kathleen is the best bartender I have ever had, she always knows what im having and makes them just the way I like it. Bingo is a riot (Santa showed up last week) I have friends that come over the river just to drink at this bar! They also have some great bar food for cheap!! ($2.50 for fries) I really canít say enough about this bar!
