BarFly's Review of Portsmouth Pizza & Pub

(formerly known as the Portsmouth Club)

As Mr. Chandler aptly puts it, "It's like a nice bar in a bowling alley." Spacious, with plenty of booths and pool x3. Very personable bartenders. Reputedly well-above average foodstuffs.

Wednesdays: Karaoke.
Thurs: College night, heavy on the promos. DJ (all request) and dancing in adjoining room Thurs-Sat nights with minimal cover and lots of promos.

I love their calzone's - perfection in a crust! and they book some great blues bands like Margo Tufo, Norman Sylavester and Lisa Mann. Just add Dover weinbewrg 7 lloyd Jones and your on my map every weekend.

Twice I have been in the last few weeks and danced to some of my favorite Blues Bands AND NOONE clapped! Other than myself and my partner, this is embarrasing Portland!!!!! These are well known local blues bands who are hot. Get it Together!!

Close that kitchen already

2 years, 4 years and even more ago this was THE place for burgers...sadly, staff move on. I've tried eating there 3 times this year and have been sadly disappointed - not only because of how good the food was, but how really really terrible it is now. 3 meals have been returned and the wait staff didn't even flinch about refunding for these burned wastes of plate space; maybe they hear enough complaints to be desensitized. Close the kitchen or fire someone, Please.

Portsmouth Rips

In my 3 years at Univ of Portland, my friends and I never dreamed of entering the Portsmouth Lounge. Then, one night not too long ago, we heard some cool live tunes being piped into the open summer evening air. We checked it out and the band was awesome. I didn't catch their name, but it was a large member band playing a wide genre of hip tunes.

Looking up

This place gets better and better every time I go there. Good people and great music. Word is, the place is going to rock this Saturday night, it being around Halloween and all! I think the band that the last guy posted about is playing. They need a website.

Incredible bands. Saw Rhythm Method on 9/28. Incredible 8 piece band playing Stevie Wonder, RHC Peppers, Doobies and more. Friendly Good crowd and diverse. Great stage. No cover.

Can't be that bad

Haven't even been yet, but if they are having the black notes and friends featuring siren's echo and copacrescent for earth day (4/22 for you littering, gas guzzling types)then that joint must be on dot. I'm reserving judgement on service and stiffness, but atmosphere...how you gon top that?

Movin' On Up

This place used to suck, plain and simple. However, it has recently come to be under new ownership and EVERYTHING is changing! They now have HOT cocktail servers and a great VIP lounge with it's own back bar and cocktailers. They built a new stage and dance floor and they have great live music from hip-hop to rock to reggae to r&b every week thursday-saturday. Although this place used to cater to the ghetto "gangsta" crowd, all of that has gone out the window. I have been going there for the past 3 weeks now and it's my favorite bar in north portland!!

Great Dj

My friend Dj's there on thursdays and it gets pretty crowded. When I went there were a ton of college types and some "gangtas", but it was all pretty innocent. Good drinks, $2 wells and bud lights. No more pool tables, they turned the area into a dance floor. I had a lot of fun.

Awesome Bar

This place was really great. I was visiting from Los Angeles and the Bartenders were really funny and razzing me. I had a great time and they had good food and awesome drinks. The Bands I saw were all very good and I had a great time. Highly recommend this bar.
