BarFly's Review of Moloko Plus
White-washed Moloko Plus offers a bounty of fresh-squeezed cocktails, while banning "lite" beers. This hall of drinkery and eatery is also a portal to a bright and cozy enclosed patio, which offers respite from rain and cold, with individual heaters at each table. If you happen in on a day when DJs aren't sharing the joy of music with you, the friendly staff are usually spinning their own favorite records.
Open 4pm-2:30am everyday.
There is free Atari for your gaming pleasures.

Getting to Moloko Plus

I like this place more than most other bars in town. The drinks are top notch and the service is very friendly, if a little slow due to quality. I find it to be a mix of some nice folks from the neighborhood and some sausages from the West, but what are you going to do? If you have a problem, I suggest increasing your forcefield capabilities. The music is almost always great as it seems to often be Dub-centric. Heck, even the raps they play there are good!
By 9 on a Wednesday night every softly curved modern chair and barstool in Moloko Plus was filled with an ironically or smartly dressed hipster. Sitting at the glossy bar I could look up and see everyone else in one of the mirrors angled down from the ceiling, spying on a curly haired guy in a cowboy-grunge get-up, a few girls with little pony tails and even littler dresses, and tight, black leggings, and others I couldnít quite make out in the dim light.
I didnít venture onto the patio, they allow smoking there but not inside, so I stayed in my spot, trying to remember where else I had seen that small gold dog pressed into the bar. It may have just reminded me of a tv show. What primarily occupied my attention was the drink menu. I only had time and tolerance to try one drink, but will soon return to venture into their house infused alcohols. The list of whiskeys is the shortest, just orange and ginger, but the choices are perfect. What better to compliment the tiny citrus twinge or spice of a good whiskey? Vodka, understandably, has the longest, with lavender, mint, sundried tomato, green tea, vanilla, and many more common and exotic options. You can find the liquors in some of the cocktails or try them straight up.
The bar hosts popular DJís on many nights, and the staff play their choice of records the rest of the time. The music can be very loud, the staff can be ruthless, and the prices are always high. Visit Moloko Plus for the impressive drink list, and find a more comfortable and friendly place to relax after.
Every time I've been to Moloko Plus I've mistaken it for the nearby 12-22. You know, I'd thought it was a black club.
Come now. Please.
In fact, Beaverton is actually the most ethnically diverse city in Oregon.
The Mississippi area, decidedly, is not.
theres not that many blacks in beaverton for one.
the room used to be a black social anyway and some still attend, it is mississippi after all!
one cute little fe bartender.
wednesdays soil and king tim 33 1/3 play the classic old jazz/hiphop you've never heard of.
Seriously, do you honestly think people drive from Beaverton (by the way, a far more diverse place than yr Mississippi) to go to fucking Moloko Plus? You either have some bone to pick with the place, or yr just an idiot. Don't misunderstand me--I'm no real fan of the place--they do have some good DJ's at times, good beers and liquor, but it's the same type of lame-ass crowd that frequents yr ever so beloved Crow Bar, and to think otherwise is just plain stupid.
Six of one, half dozen of another, bitch.
Don't attend this bar! You know any place that changes it's name 3 times in one year has a flaw. Now, it seems to have taken off but, no one from the neighborhood seems to go here.
I dont mean to sound xenophobic but, if I wanted to hang out with Beavertonians I would goto Washington Square Mall.
What made the place seem even more pretenscious were the prices - eight dollars for a coctail that was cheap vodka infused with food coloring??? I can tolerate most places, and, having a frat boy magnet keeps the Crow Bar staff from having to memorizes ferternity hand shakes and which belongs to which sorority. But the staff at this place are, well, are like their patrons - snotty rude.
So, if you want over priced drinks and mean spirited staff with an environment that smacks of Beaverton, Moloko Plus is your place.
I've never had a bad cocktail or bad sammie at this lovely establishment. In fact, some of the cocktails are pure genius. Unfortunately, I've almost never had a second drink at Moloko/Mississippi/the white bar because MY EARS WERE BEING BLASTED OFF by some DJ who thought he was playing a room about 4 times the size and filled with people who were only there to worship at his feet. If you want conversation, beware, you may have to move on quickly if you don't want to develop larnigitis (sp?) from the yeling. Too bad, because they have pretty, conversation-enticing furniture.
Have not had the food, but drinks are awesome (mango margaritas w/ FRESH mango anyone???)!!! :) Staff is very hipster/zombie/too cool to work but they get the job done. Glad to see the volleyball playing amazon bitch bartender is gone! Only complaint: music is WAY too loud...seriously, you have to yell to talk to someone sitting next to you. Non smoking too (but smokers can pollute their lungs on the patio or outside). Wknd nights are ultra crowded w/ lots of attitude.
if you walked in looking like that, I'd serve you water too. and maybe a ham sandwich...
Two girls walk into Moloko and take a seat at the bar. One of them, who is approached by the bartender who looks ready to take our order, orders a Coke, just a plain Coke, and is told, "I'm gonna start you out with water." Why? She ordered a Coke. Why this attitude? Then we are ignored, after being given waters. Water that was wasted... since we left! I can hardly pay attention to any musical selection they have going on if the bartender is going to act like that.
You would think that a super mod joint like this would play a bunch of wierd Finnish techno but everytime Ive been in their they have some cool nerd dj playing old soul and hip-hop. It really softens the place up.
Sunday is for Nascar racing and big buffet with cheep Mary drinks. The streetside tables are very cool for toasting the church go'ers. Find me there the morning after.
what holocene used to be like.... relaxed, simple and good music.
really above average attractive people here. sort of a young wealthy hipster crowd, if you squint its kinda big city looking in there. the miller is pretty cheap. the patio is great. but mostly HOTTIES!!!!
