I heard Mama Mia's had a great happy hour and after checking it out yesterday I couldn't agree more. I had the lasagna and the fried mozzarella not only were the portions huge both were delicious! The bartender was friendly and was spot with her wine recommendation. I highly recommend you pay this place a visit, you won't be disappointed.
While the food was good and a bargain, the maitre d' was a total jerk. Heaven help you if you don't have a reservation even if it is not really necessary (i.e. open tables). It will be met with a dramatic sigh and a lot of impatience. Really? It's not like this is the Ritz. In lieu of sitting down right away we (party of two) decided to have a drink at the bar and ask for a table after a couple cocktails. When we did ask to be put on the list for a dining room table, we were told it would be at least another hour wait. "Fine," we said. So we decided to eat at a very tiny table in the bar even though at least six tables were open from the time we asked for a dining room table until we left for the evening. And no, this was not a situation of tables reserved for people who would be coming in (I asked the wait staff about this). The whole episode seemed to be some bizarre retribution for not doing what was easiest for the maitre d'. Obviously, one employee can make a big difference in a guest's experience. I feel sorry for the wait staff (all of them were very nice and attentive) who have to make up for a putz at the front door.
I had heard some good things about this restaurant. So, I decided to give it a try. The food did not live up to my expectations at the slightest. My girlfriend ordered the Veal Parm, and I ordered the Lasagna DeGiorno. Both dishes were terrible. My girlfriend's Veal was completely burnt on the bottom, and my lasagna was swimming in grease. We returned both to be fixed, but when we received the replacements, it was the same as before. I also read a couple of the reviews from a couple of years ago and read this, "the only pleasent person that worked there was the chef." This statement is not true as I right this review. We were sitting on the far side of the restaurant (away from the kitchen entrance), and several times we could hear screaming, yelling, cursing, name calling, and innappropriate language from the kitchen. In my opinion this is very unprofessional, and if the kitchen is that loud, they should install some kind of soundproofing so the customers experience is not affected. In short, the service sucked, the food sucked (didn't eat a thing), and the all around professionalism in the restaraunt seems to be non-existent. In the end, My girlfriend and I will never return or recommend this establishment to anyone (I don't even think my dog would eat the Veal).
Good food. Reasonable prices for the district. Nice atmosphere. I'm a foodie and I love to cook, so I don't eat out very often. I met some friends there for dinner and all of us enjoyed our food. Authentic Italian food is what you get, and they don't have to put pasta on every plate. Super. Also, I've found that typically if you're nice to you waiter, you'll get good service. After all, they work for tips and little else. I'm not a waiter.
I went here to celebrate my friend's birthday and it was not a very good experience. The hostess/manager was extremely rude and the food was just okay. I also thought that the food was overpriced. Our waitress was very rude also and the only pleasent person that worked there was the chef who came out to see how our food was. No one ever asked us if we were celebrating a special occasion or wished my friend happy birthday when she was holding presents and everything. I will never return to this restaurant because the food isn't good enough to compensate for the horrible service.
I have been there several times, one waiter is VERY good (younger male). The last time I went there the food was good (as it usually is) but the service was absolutely terrible. The host was very rude right as we walked in the door, the waitress was also very impolite and the meal took a total of 2 hours, as we waited for the checks for about 20 minutes. The service is not worth the taste.
Good Italian food, decent drinks. This place is great and fun. The staff was very friendly, and their Cannoli was awesome.
we went there 3 times - the first time, the eggplant parm was amazing and everyhting else fine. the 2nd time, the server was rude, the eggplant parm not cooked, and when i asked for it to be cooked, they burned it and brought it back to me burned. tried a final time and the eggplant parm was again supercrappy. and our waiter was an ass. overpriced for such a lack of consistency in this town full of good restaurants.
love this place everything was great food was excellent but wish the portions were a liitle bit bigger
I went there last night and it was very tasty! The best idea is to eat in the bar and order off of the happy hour menu for dinner as well as drinks. They serve you half portions of what the dinner plates would be and it's only $3 per "appetizer" My new favorite italian joint. You've got to try it!!!
