Getting to Maher's Pub

I'm actually surprised by the less-than-glowing reviews I just read about Mahers. I have pretty high standards for food, service, and quality beer - as does my husband. We've been to Mahers many times and never left unsatisfied. The servers are flexible and friendly, the atmosphere feels authentic - as an Irish pub should, vibrant yet very laid back. Awesome place to have a beer with friends, catch live music, watch sports..also cozy enough to have some intimate charm. My husband loves sampling their great beers. And my favorite part..the tasty, fresh soul food. This is one of the few places where we get the best of both worlds - he can get his "meat and potatoes" (the bangers and mash is awesome, as is the Boston butt sandwich), and I can get my refreshing organic salad with more interesting things than iceberg lettuce - plus a hearty appetizer if I so desire. Not many places can satisfy our opposite food preferences and Mahers does. I have consistently been happy with our social/dining experience here - check it out for sure and form your own opinion before swallowing some of those other negative, perhaps flukey reviews!!
Stay away from Maher's for your St. Patrick's Day fun, this place is overcharged, food is terrible, drinks weak and service is rude if you can get any service at all. Went there the other night an will never go back, probably the worst restaurant or pub in Lake Oswego. I am not sure how this place stays open, looking forward to seeing them on dirty dining soon.
The food was not edible and drinks overpriced. Many other better pubs in LO to choose from. The service was pretty terrible as well, could not have cared less they were serving us slop.
The food seems fine, but is far overpriced. And where is the bartender, anyway? Shouldn't he/she be tending the bar? The house is cute, but not cute enough that I want to rack up a huge tab for tiny pints and slow bar service.
Service not good or friendly, at all. Being an Irish place you think they would have a signature "Irish Coffee" Not the case, and not recommended trying one at Mahars. (mine came with salt vs sugar) Also, food is over priced. Also, it doesn't feel like you get a bargain..they over charge for bad wine and not so good food!
Terrible food and really really slow service, when we mentioned this the waitress was quite rude and said she "would get to us", finally got our meal and it was luke warm. The prices are high for what you get, we live nearby but will go to Terrace or a number of other bars in the area, not this place, unless they get some new management and better service.
Microscopic happy hour portions. Slow service. Warm beer that "they cant do anything about" on a hot day.
If you like whiskey you would be in error not to check out Maher's Pub. While it usually feels about as crowded as nearby Gemini Bar the environment is significantly more comfortable. Too packed inside Maher's? They have a large outdoor seating area. There's also a Tri-Met transit center across the street from the bar, so you're not stranded if you drink too much of that whiskey.
Food was terrible, service was worse. Stick to Kell's or Dublin Pub if you want Irish fare.
Mahers is a great Irish Bar , Very friendly staff and has great food,Love the Irish dancers and Irish music , well worth a visit.
