BarFly's Review of Laurelwood Public House
Tasty beers, mediocre food, and ever present families are the hallmark of a modern brewpub, one which Laurelwood has managed to achieve. The screams of children and the thunderous roar of 1000 tiny feet in a synchronized stomping tantrum makes it perfect destination for those of you who decided that 6,000,000,000 people inhabiting our fine earth is simply not enough. The rooftop patio is worthy of a second glance, a quick sip, and a quick getaway to more desirable location.

Went here for the first time yesterday during Zwicklemania 2009 the brewery was having an open-house. Grabbed a bite to eat first, sitting right next to the door that separates the brewery from the restaurant. My wife and I shared a pulled pork sandwich with fries (awesome) and I had a half pint of one of their seasonals (the Elvis commemorative ESB which was pretty damn scrumptious). While we were waiting for the food to arrive, we made several trips into the brewery to get samples of their 2009 Barleywine, 2007 Bourbon-barrel barleywine, Beer X, Vanilla Porter, and the Espresso Stout. All were exceedingly awesome. They also had chocolate truffles on offer. The Chocolate Cherry Truffles were AMAZING! My wife fell in love with them and said they were the best truffles she has ever tasted (and that says a lot because we lived in Belgium for a year!). We asked the head brewer where they got them. They were made by the brewpub's chef! Definitely, keep your eye out for those! He promised they would make them again.
This is a Portland MUST! Their beers are par-excellence and their food is too. Everyone's tastes differ, but I doubt you'd be disappointed with ANY of their beers, so whichever ones you try, you're good to go.
Speaking of "to go", they also offer pretty much any available beer to take with you. You can even bring in a cornelius keg for a fill (though not the same day and you can only get beers that they are not running low on).
