BarFly's Review of Kir Wine Bar
Kir is sort of like some really nice cult, the sort you can visit and still be allowed to leave; the regulars are almost hilariously devoted to Kir’s admittedly crushworthy owner, Amalie, and to the notion that where they are is a secret somehow only they know.
This wine spot is hidden from view, tucked off Burnside on 7th avenue, the bar tiny and comfortingly wood-grained, the small plates reasonable, the wine well considered, the wine cocktails very, very French.
The happy hour is too short, from 5 till a mere 6—but we expect that the after-work ladywine crowd too lucrative for them to want to keep knocking $2 off the price of every pour.
This is one of those rare wine bars where not only does the owner know exactly what she’s doing and seem to like it, you can also be assured of exiting without feeling raped by the bill, and so we salute.
Dark Sunday and Monday.

Add your own review or commentI finally made it to Kir, and will definitely be back. It's right across the street from Oregon Artificial Limb - just a few steps from Burnside, but feels like another country. There was one great server, one chef making your snacks in the tiny kitchen, plenty of good wine on the list, and about five little tables. Dark and cozy; perfect for a date or crying alone.

Libel ain't cool, man. Naming names in an undeservedly negative or totally false review? That's libel. However, if you truly had a bad experience, please share it. If it's true, it ain't libel!

Were you 86ed for being a complete douchebag? Are you the perpetually unsatisfied bitch? The bartender's psycho ex? Are you copying & pasting the same review from/to Yelp, Facebook, etc.? Then you're undermining the value of our reader reviews. Don't waste your time posting.
