BarFly's Review of Hawthorne Strip
(Hawthorne Strip relocated here 2015; location formerly Glimmers.)
Some of the best dancers in town, who refreshingly trend more toward the burlesque, rather than the gynecological, in their approach to the pole. Fun and friendly neighborhood hideaway.

I didn't get a chance to visit this place at it's prior location. The interior is rather bland; seats aren't that comfortable, the lighting is uniform so each area is lit up the same, except for the private dance area. The dancers were only mildly approachable- smiles while dancing, but stoic like otherwise. The general behavior is to fixated on one patron and not worry about anyone else. Located a cross street away from a bigger club, the place was had fe customers when I visited. Not a first choice for me unless I discover a sterling personality working there.
I adore BUSH & ARMPIT HAIR Its a great bar. I love the staff &thatbar the best music in town. But moreofthat sweet bush & armpit hair. This is Portland, you know;)
For me, this place is perfect. I love that I can sit by the stage and have a girl hover over me. Heaven on earth. The place has always been friendly to me, and I've been going to this place off and on for years (and when it was Dino's).
This is the club I could not do without.
My days off, evenings and days when I just don't show up for work are usually meant for "World of Warcraft". Those times when I step away from the game, and go to the Hawthorne Strip have been pleasant and profitable ones- good low profile joint. O'Yeah when I had a girlfriend, if I told here I was at Walgreens I was probably here!
The variety of dancers at this place never ceases to amaze me. Have to go different days and times but there will eventually be on to fit your taste. Thursday was a great large lovely lady if you like that. Saturday had one that you would swear was a different person each time she came out. Fantastic outfits. And then the extremely flexible dancer. Just Fantastic. And the bartenders are great looking and friendly too. For a dive you guys have it going.
Tiny little dive. Below average attractiveness. Girls dance to a jukebox which seems to take forever to switch CDs, making that akward silence in between songs extra long. What this place does have going for it is that everyone there is really friendly and fun. It's a miserable excuse for a strip club, but it's a pretty decent dive bar.
We went in on the advice of a friend. Small inside, but not crowded when we were there. Sports on the t.v. and lotto machines towards the back. No pool table though. Dancers were all friendly, not cookie cutter strippers, ranging in looks from cute to HOT! They also had a hot bartender. Very laid back,a great place to hide out from the winter weather. I got an incredible dance from Monroe. We'll be back again!
This place is a literal hole in the wall. It's tiny as hell. It really does look like a 50's diner. I went here on a wednesday night. The place was dead.
There was some decent girls, decent not great.
I didn't have that great of a time here. The drinks were mediocre. Beer selection is limited.
Good for a change of pace but I probably wouldn't come here again.
Also their is very little sense of privacy.
To me this is the type of place where you would expect to find a gloryhole in the bathroom.
Dropped by this place this evening and was amazed at the dancers. Not your average dancers here. If you want the normal barbie doll don't go here. They were amazing and all hot though. You gotta stop by and see for yourself.
On my 21st birthday my husband and four of our friends decided we were going to hit a up strip joint. We went to Mary's first no good( strippers there looked old as fuck, then we hit up Union Jack's I heard the best things about that place. However, this particular night all the strippers were either really fat or looked like crack heads. I was highly disappointed after all the praise it's gotten. So finally one of our friend that lives in downtown recommended we hit up The Hawthorne Strip. We arrive to the place it looked a little dingy on the outside however, it was totally different inside. Yeah the seating was weird since they had 50's dining booths. The girls there were fucking hot. I was thisclose to leaving my husband and going back to girls. They offered to buy me a drink and they were incredibly nice. Not only did they look amazing but the girls had talent. I'm not the type of girl that thinks any face or body is hot. I'm fucking picky as all hell but these girls were perfect. keep in mind this was on a weekday too.
Like so many others I'd heard some hair-raising tales about Dino's (pregnant strippers, microwave pizza main foodstuff etc) and I'd have to say that even my low bar tastes were not sold.
Hawthorne Strip however seems a decent and friendly place. Not the hottest strippers, drink was average at best but the place had an odd 50s diner counter-top layout and was brightly lit. Not that brightly lit is always a plus dependent on the talent, but it was OK for a change of pace.
First of all, I love strippers. In fact, my friends refer to me as "The Stripper Whisperer."
I can't find a happy medium at this place. Either the girl is waaaaay too skinny (I know some guys like pin-thin girls, but I'm not a pedo and I like fucking girls that DON'T look 12 years old) or she's completely busted in the face.
Also, these girls seem to have a little bit of an attitude problem. I know that being a stripper is somewhat of a status simbol in Portland, but seriously ladies, you're not going to be young and attractive forever.
Put down the coke spoon and go to college part time, instead of just LYING about it to get better tips.
Aaah yes, the old Dinos seems to have undertaken a renovation, but I'd bet that folks who go in there still hustle in so nobody driving by will recognize them! Haw! I remember Dinos back in the day, back in the mid nineties, when it was a pure, wholesome dive. Used to be lots of strange characters in there back in the day. I remember the barkeeps, they were pretty funny somtimes. Excellent.
Stopped in on a Saturday night not very crowded but there were three hot dancers- yes they put more effort in than just taking their clothes off. The beer selection was good too.
Not to mention no DJ- the girls pick their own songs- and no pressure for lap dances.
The Strip is great. The music is eclectic and varied, the girls are cute and saucy, definitely more burlesque. The hosts are the most and you can just chill there for drinks. And tipping. It's my favorite alongside the Devil's Point.
(hey keep up the good work, HK, you're a real charmer)
Anyway. Last time we went in a few weeks ago, the bartender was chewing out a dancer who was standing there dazedly trying to figure out the juke. It was a little awkward, and one of the other dancers looked about 17 yrs old. My friend and I looked at each other and said, "It's still Dino's."
Anyway, Hawthorne Strip is exactly the same as Dino's as far as I can tell, except for the full bar.
I have this thing against fat strippers. Fat is not to be ashamed of. However, don't expect men to pay to see naked fat chicks. Many fat strippers here.
I can understand how people get nostalgic about bars but get over it. I like to walk into a bar with hot chicks, friendly bartenders and good cocktails. If you want to hang out in a dirty dive, drink tall boys and not tip the ladies there are many other places to go for that
The Hawthorne Strip is my favorite strip club in Portland. The girls are cute, friendly, and enthusiastic and the bartenders are attentive and pour a stiff drink. The eclectic jukebox is filled with classic rock, indie stuff, punk, and soul, and the girls dance to it all. A relaxed clientele that includes hipsters, blue collar dudes, lesbians, couples, and neighborhood locals. It's a little bright, and they could really drop one of the several tv screens, but otherwise it's an awesome joint. Try to stop by when Berlin, Lulu, or Magnolia are working. HOTT!
I dunno about Dino's, but this place rocked. The girl had fun and the drinks were cheap enough, it reminded me of a wanna-be Mary's.
Damn Pigmonkey....When your right, your right.Way to hit everything I would have said on the button. Can you imagine being a one eyed UNEMPLOYED stripper.Burger King here she comes.
i miss dino's. i miss the stripper with the eye-patch. i miss the stripper who looked like dee snyder. i miss the snaggle-tooth mama behind the bar who served up raineer tall-boys. i miss the 25 cent pool table. this place will never be as good as dino's...
