BarFly's Review of Elbow Room
aka Paul's. The Club 21 to the 'Couve's EJ's (R.I.P.), The Arnada. Seemingly ancient lounge shows vestiges of faded glamour in its gold-toned booths. Hard-working ladies (one has been there for 29 years!) behind the bar serve up hefty portions to hard drinking customers on the other side.

paul's prices have gone up to $3 wells, 2.75 during happy hour. It's still the best place to go if you don't like douche bags. There will always be douche bags, but here there are less.
we're sick of the new look on barfly. it's really shitting out. Sometimes we can barely stand it. KYLE. this website is starting to make us both feel barflee. You are not Tom so stop trying to be a shittier Tom and stop making this a shittier myspace. we hate it. and stop fucking reviewing bars in fucking vancouver. who the fuck gives a shit. i hate it. you are doing some things ie: text bar magic but whassa goin on?
everybody look at the tip. everybody look at the tip of the dick.
90% of u people dont have a clue of what a good place is. I wouldnt trade it or all of my friends that still hang out there for the world.
It is a great bar in a few different ways. Like these other reviewers say, the drinks are stiff, the prices are reasonable, the staff is very friendly. The only problem is the juke box. Although there are some good choices in it, it sometimes only plays a few of your choices or none at all. The strip e-poker machines work fine.
Paul's really IS like cheers. I'm 23 and love this place to death. The bartenders are the sweetest ladies in the world and they know how to pour a proper drink. Sure, you get the usual crowd of belligerent drunks and the occasional mob of trashy people, but the drinks will help you ignore all that. This is not, I repeat, NOT, a "rough and tough" bar. Give me a fucking break.
The only place I can get drunk for cheaper is the Denny's bars that serve 75 cent well drinks. Paul's is a great goddamn bar.
What great memories I have of this place. I havn't been in there for a while, but what I remember is the drinks will kick your butt. Prices are reasonable and the service is great.
Mixed drinks are always atleast half pure alcohol. It's the only place in Vancouver to get a decent drink anymore. Not for people who like pretty drinks with only 1 shot in them. Conversation and drinking are pretty much the only two activities here, which suits me just fine.
Normally I hate having to go to Vancouver for anything less than a suitcase full of money, or free drugs. However, I would GLADLY go here. The drinks are mighty, the bartendresses and waitresses are so sweet, & everyone there was just good people. If you were there for the 2 table game of quarters, I would like to drink with your happy ass again.
You will never find a better place to just sip a cocktail and watch the bullshit fly.I have seen the decor change numerous times over the years..and the food is good enough for the people I hang with..patty melt is very good.Patrons love this bar so much that when they die they request their ashes to be spread there to ensure they will be around a long time..it is definetly a vancouver haunt.
The Elbow Room is a solid place to bring a few friends, tip back a couple stiff drinks, and run into an entertaining crowd. And, now that there's no smoking it seems not as rough a crowd.
Where in town can you drink yourself into a comma for $10.00....? The Elbow Room. Now non smoking, is a hidden little spot for cheap drinks, fun times and a mix crowd. Drinks are strong, but well worth it. Patty is the best bartender you will ever encounter and pleanty of seating space to hang with friends. As for the "too rough and tough" crowd comment above....You must not get out much!....Most folks at the Elbowe, come for a good cheap drink and conversation. From the old timers to the you college kids looking to save a buck on drinks...this crowd is your usual home town bar.

Give me a break! They are give ultimate value. I love the elbow room If your drink is too strong, tell them you can't handle it and they will make you a shirley temple.
Don't go there. It's hidden and there are no windows for a reason. Their drinks are way too strong and the crowd is too rough and tough.
If you don't mind swimming through dense Cigarette smoke to swill flamable liquids this is your spot. Wear somthing you can burn the next day.
