BarFly's Review of Deschutes Brew Pub
Finally Deschutes decided to come to the big city! Huge yet comfy space (especially for the Pearl) with a zillion of their beers on draft - some specific only to the brewpub. Reclaimed timber beams furnish everything from the bar's counter top to the host stand. Make sure to not give the 'tenders a concussion while you throw a ton of quarters into the basketballish funnel above the bar.
Hours - 11am-12am daily. Starting - $2.95-$4.95 menu, $3.50 select draft 4-6pm Mon-Fri.

Went there to meet friends and we ended up waiting in line for over a half-hour. When we finally got seated, we ordered a beer and burgers. The burgers were chewy and all priced over $10. Ouch...expensive as He_ _! No Happy Hour, no real 16 oz pints, & bad service to boot! It was an Unhappy-Hour when we finally got the tab. We'll never go to this Pearl rip-off joint again. Save your money. There's way better options on the Eastside.
A group of eight of us went on a Friday night for dinner and drinks. The beer is fantastic but the service was terrible. Waitress messed up a person's order twice, took forever to bring us dessert, brought someone the wrong beer, and didn't bother to ask if we wanted new drinks until we were empty and waiting on the check. It was too many mistakes at one table, even for a busy time.
The beers are excellent. Maybe that's all you need. The big, open room is attractive, if overly self conscious in its humor. Above the bar are picture frames around a window, a mirror, a flat-screen TV. Ha Ha. The stagger in and out of the restroom includes a silly play with mirrors. Ha Ha. It took me awhile to notice that just behind the bar, all along it, are tall stacks of glasses in big plastic holders, which have the effect of keeping bartenders at more than arm's length from customers. Which was the general feeling I got from them. The bartenders just talked to each other. But the beer is really good. The Ivana Weiss was nice, and the Hop Henge was pretty amazing. Maybe that's all that counts. But if so, why not just load your growler and go home to drink it? Why hang out there and pay tips?
