Getting to Crush

As a guy taking his wife there to meet a "bi" girl... just not going to happen strictly lesbians. Also guys stay away from that place when they have their "go-go dancers" the dykes will glare at you until you are gone... It is too bad that most lesbians are "men haters." Luckily for me, I have known many very nice lesbians otherwise I could have my thinking quite skewed by them... anyhow the bar tenders were pretty great. Very quick on the tap and they can really mix up a drink...
Great food but the drink have no alcohol whatsoever. The staff are a great bunch of people though.
Great space, but avoid the brunch on Sunday...I waited 30 min before the power bottom waiter asked if I wanted something to drink...UH, DUH! Food was ok, nothing to write home about and drinks were even less stellar...yes, for a gay bar, it's pretty cool, but there are better options to be had...it tries really hard to be a trendy San Fran bar but falls short.
This place has the best food! You would be so surprised. Bartenders are really cool too. I wish it was a little busier when I went, but I probably pick the wrong times to go. I was really pleasantly surprised with the food though.
I'm new to the area and hear that Crush is a great place to go if you want to meet a nice lesbian woman. Which night do you recommend for this as I would love to meet one... and is it awkward to go there alone or welcoming?? Thanks!
I cannot possibly express my love for Crush entirely. From the interactive artwork that provides us with endless hours of voyeurism and Lego fun, to the Sunday Brunch with the sweetest tunes and the best staff that Portland offers, this is one of the only bars in Portland I make a point to visit when I've been hibernating too long. Great space, good people, fantastic drinks and the beats!! Good lordy the beats!!! If Crush was a woman, I'd switch teams and marry it in a more Northern European country.
Crush is great - the other reviewers covered the great food and yummy cocktails, my only addition is this: if you think the drinks are expensive, go on a Tuesday night!! ALL of their specialty martinis are only $3 and oh my god are they worth it! You'd easily pay $7 for them anywhere else. Crush has fantastic drink specials every night but Tuesday is the jackpot and it lasts ALL NIGHT!!
This place has become my new favorite hang. The 3 differentlarge rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The staff is HOT! and friendly. The drinks are stiff, and the food is reasonably priced and awesome! The music is usually goood also. This place has it all..from a big bar to longy couches to a seperate smoking bar. I cant believe the place isn't packed all the time! Its time people found out...Crush is HOT!
I really really wish that I could like Crush as it has several things going for it--great interior, wonderful proximity to other bars I frequent, and great drinks. However, there is a particular bartender that has ruined my experince damn near everytime I go there. I am not hard to please, I don't ask for special treatment, I tip well, etc, so I don't think I'm a problem customer. Despite this, I have had to wait waaaaay long in a nearly-empty to get service with attitude from this chick, and her drinks, well, suck. All of the other bartenders have been nice, but damnit, everytime I go she's working so I get shitty drinks with major attitude for major moolah. F*ck that.
Great aesthetics and atmosphere, but mercifully few yuppies, trendoids or suburbanites. Nicely queer, but not unwelcoming if you're not. Behind the bar - excellent brands, fresh ingredients and tenders who know what they're doing and do it well. I think the prices are actually amazingly low considering the quality (and size)of the drinks, and the food is noteworthy - fresh, yummy and plentiful. It's one of my favorite places in all of PDX so if you're an irritating person, please don't go there and ruin it. Thank you.
The cocktails are pricey, but many of them are worth it, mango margarita for sure. Their new expansion is quite ambitious, but everytime I am in there, its pretty busy and socialable. The food is unexpectably good that can expect to have a better meal there than many SE full service restaurants. Seeing as my girfriends and I wound up another patron's hot tub after close says a little bit more about it than just being a nice place to eat.
I second ChaosFlower's review, but the girls (its spelled girl, not 'grrl', and what the hell is a bwah?) dancing in underwear is news to me -- this must have started since the last time I was there. Yes, the mixed drinks are expensive. Nice place. I wonder if the hot ethnic-looking waiter with the shaved head still works there? ^_^
I checked out Crush on a Friday night recently. As an inveterate faghag, I loved this little joint. Big plush couches, funky lighting, laid back atmosphere, very friendly fairy staff, a giant video wall that played Duran Duran & Prince '80's classics, yummy food and wine, good service... and HOT grrls & bwahs dancing in the windows! I don't know if this was intentional or not, but having hotties dancing through (and on) your bar all night motivating patrons to get out on the dance floor was a good bar vibe in my opinion! Everybody seemed to be having a great time. The main area is nonsmoking, so you don't have to wash your hair the minute you go home like Brooke Shields. The only drawback is that you could spend a lot of $$ in this place, but what you get for it is pretty much worth it. I'll be back someday, with an entourage.
