BarFly's Review of Beaches
The view, the cool beach sounds at entrance, and the liquor swinging drink pouring make Beaches an excitable un-Portland bar. Be warned though, it's kind of a meat market for your parents. Play volleyball on the "beach", get your ball from the bar.
Open 11am-close daily.
$3.95 pints and select wine, 3pm-close, Mondays; 3-6pm and 9pm-close, Tuesday-Sunday.
I am the GM of Beaches. Our HH is Monday 3-cl, Tue-Sun 3-6 and also 9-cl in the bar. The price point is 3.95 for pint and also feature wine. Our HH food is a large variety fo over twenty items.

I was surprised to discover they had a wheat and gluten free pizza since it was not on the menu, they warned me ahead of time that it would take about 25 min. because of the type of dough and to my surprise it was delicious and soooo worth the wait! Thank you beaches for another option for a celiac to eat out!
This place offers a good view of the river and good food. Other than that the food is way too expensive and there a bunch of older people chattin it up..Worth going once and thats about it...
The service is very good. The strawberry lemonade is very good. The view is delightful. The food is not good. The crab cakes were extremely salty and swimming in bbq sauce which does not even go with crab cakes. It said thai bbq sauce so we expected something other than the normal kind but no. The steak was overcooked by several factors of doneness. In defense of the cooks, the space and lighting in the cooking area are vastly inadequate. Go for a drink and desert. The bread pudding and pies looked good.
Although its faded a bit I still find Beaches Calamari to be the best. Superior to Jakes, McCormic's,Pazzo Ristorante and equal to Salty's. Also, if you happen to be 40 something and female you will find a great crowd of accomplished and friendly gentlemen frenquent this establishment and are happy to engage in polite conversation.
I'm not into the family eating area. Way to loud. Can't even have a conversation without yelling over the table. However, I do recommend Beaches for its great Adult area: Da Bar. Micheal and Terry are AWESOME behind the bar. They both welcome me by name when I go in there, and even remember my fav drink. How cool is that! Plus, no foul language is tolerated. Also, forget about what others say about the clientel. The woman you meet at Beaches are fun and easy to talk to (mostly, anyway. Yes, the crowd is middle-age, but isn't that the age Women are most appealing? I think so.
Food was way too expensive for the quality you got. If the prices were 25% cheaper, than I would say, you get what you pay for and no complaints. Can't comment on the bar as I only went for dinner.
These guys offer pretty good customer service, food is pretty tasty, i like how they change the beer special every hour during sport events and mix it up with giveaways and such the pricing is not very desirable. 2.75 for PBR is not acceptable to me. It used to not be a good place to go but has definetly gotten better if you have no other options
If I wanted to hang with a bunch 50-something suburbanites trying to reclaim their youth by acting out old high-school dreams, openly hittting on 19 yr old servers in front of their bombed out & depleted wives...then by all means, go to Beaches. Otherwise skip this place all together. The happy hour is the shit though and the service is pretty good.
If are a female of almost any age, and you want to be hit on by slimy nasty adulterous mofo's, this is the place for you. Meat market is the operative term here. Also seems to be really popular with kids who just turned 21 and have no idea how to act in a bar. Stunning. They make a decent salad, but otherwise, STAY FAR AWAY.
The food is amazing, and the happy hour (food)menu is delicious for a great price. Happy hour drinks are not as cheap as the Barfly Review suggests. I was in there a month or two ago and the Happy Hour "special" was pints of PBR for $2.75- not such a great deal. Still, the food is the main attraction.
Amazing Happy Hour. However, everyone in the area (Portland included) knows about the hot spot. Very crowded so come early. Great view and pleasant outdoor seating. Good service as well.
